JPM -- Pastoral Counseling
Pastoral Counselor, Lic. Minister
Sometimes it is very difficult to come to a counselor and to seek help from the professional community. It may help for me to explain a little bit about what you can expect.
I would describe myself as a practical counselor. As a Clinical Pastoral Counselor Licensed with the National Christian Counselors Association (NCCA), my counseling ministry utilizes the Arno Profile System (APS) Temperament Analysis Profile (TAP), in addition to my course and degree work, prayer and God's Word, and life experience. Temperament Therapy is one of the most effective therapeutic approaches in use today. (Most counselors use some form of diagnostic report. Counselors with the NCCA utilize the APS-TAP.) You will also receive your personal copy of the profile, which will be of great benefit to you if you will utilize it.
The Temperament Analysis Profile gives us great insight into understanding ourselves a little better.
Group Therapy has a classroom or seminar-type feel to it, and presents practical help and training.

Before, or at the beginning of counseling, you may be asked to fill-out intake and informed consent forms, and asked to fill-out the questionnaire for the Temperament Analysis Profile online through your computer or smartphone, and to bring your donation with you to your session(s).
In individual counseling, we will talk about what it is that has brought you to me, along with your expectations of what you hope to gain. In the course of counseling, we will talk about your Temperament Analysis Profile, and together with the Lord's help (even if you are not a Christian), we will seek an answer that is helpful for you. And, homework may be assigned for between sessions.
You may only need one or two sessions, or it may take a few sessions to get you over the hurdle that you are facing. Together, we will evaluate as we go.
Sessions are typically one hour long, but could possibly run a little over, especially the first session. Payment is expected at each session.
I hope this gives you some insight as to what you might expect here at JPM.
May God richly bless you and keep you to His glory in Christ Jesus!
